Lemon Creek is one of the oldest named places in what is now Walnut. Lemon Creek Park sits at 130 Avenida Alipaz, and the area's post office opened under the name Lemon in 1895 before being renamed Walnut in 1908. Lemon Avenue is still one of the city's main streets.
The city's own history page connects the park area to Sheriff William Rowland, who owned the land in 1871, and lists the William R. Rowland Adobe Redwood Ranch House, built in 1883. Lemon Creek itself drains mostly south toward the San Jose Creek valley.
A Long History Does Not Tell Us What Is in Your Walls
We did not find documented construction dates for the homes around Lemon Creek Park, and the city does not publish neighborhood boundaries. For that reason this page makes no claim about pipe age or material here.
What it does offer is a practical way to find out for yourself before you call. A few minutes at the water heater, the main shutoff and the yard tells you most of what a plumber would want to know.
How to Check What Plumbing You Have
Look at the pipe near the shutoff
Copper is reddish brown, galvanized steel is dull gray with threaded joints, and PEX is flexible plastic in red, blue or white. Seeing which one you have shapes any repair or repiping conversation.
Try a magnet on gray pipe
A magnet sticks to galvanized steel but not to copper. It is a simple check for a pipe you cannot identify by color.
Find the sewer cleanout
Most houses have a capped cleanout pipe near the foundation or in a side yard. Knowing where it is speeds up a camera inspection if a drain backs up.
Note any past repairs
Patches, mismatched fittings and newer sections beside old pipe show that a line was repaired before. Mention them when you call.
Services Near Lemon Creek Park
Common requests include leak detection when a bill climbs without explanation, sewer line repair or replacement after a camera shows a problem, and water heater repair. Owners with repeated leaks in different spots sometimes ask about repiping as well.

Lemon Creek Plumbing FAQs
Lemon Creek Park is at 130 Avenida Alipaz, and Lemon Avenue runs through the older part of the city. The city does not publish neighborhood boundaries, so the park is the best anchor for the area.
No. It is part of the City of Walnut. The early post office carried the name Lemon in 1895 and became Walnut in 1908, which is why the name survives on the avenue, the creek and the park.
Galvanized steel is dull gray and threaded at the joints, and a magnet sticks to it. Copper is reddish brown and does not attract a magnet. Mention what you find when you call.
We do not assume. Several providers serve the Walnut area, so check your water bill for the provider before relying on hardness or pressure figures quoted for a different district.
